This story got more attention than anything I have ever written.
The hand written note at the top of the page was by John Edwardson, who was President of United Airlines. He read this story to his audiences on numerous speaking occasions, frequently sending me notes and e-mails describing the responses and feedback he received. Edwardson passionately believed employee ownership would become the pinnacle event that would change the face of corporate culture. So did I. Sadly, it failed.
