This story is my only attempt, so far, at investigative journalism. I almost gave up on it for lack of material but not before throwing a Hail Mary. I posted a request on a Texas geneaology site appealing for information on USAF Lt. Bart Brooks. A year later I got a response. "Bart Brooks was my uncle. Who are you and what do you want?" Despite her initial skepticism of me I won her trust, and Mrs. Anderson turned loose a flood of information about her uncle that woke this story up and gave it new life.  Ten years after it was published the producers of Smithsonian Channel's "Ar Warriors" came across it and asked me to appear on camera to provide commentary. It was aired in June 2023 as Season 11 episode 5 with the title "F-100 Super Sabre."
